Title: On top of the world
Place: Skydeck Chicago
Category: Landmarks & Landscapes
Photographer: Aniket Patil
Description: While everyone was enjoying the mesmerizing sunset view of downtown Chicago on the 103rd floor of Willis Tower, I noticed this spider right outside the glass window, unrestrained by the wind or cold in The "Windy City". I took this picture not just because he got me wondering how this small creature reached 1,353 feet above ground level but more importantly because of the first thing that came to my mind after seeing him, he belonged there.

Title: Dream Way
Place: Brooklyn, New York
Category: Landmarks & Landscapes
Photographer: Shih-Hsuan Huang
Description: When I first visit the famous bridge, there are many visitors walking on it. Also, there was some office worker either riding their bike to work or taking the briefcase with them. Brooklyn Bridge makes a connection between the work and the life, or even make a dream for everyone. One side for the pedestrian and the other side for the bike. The deeper meaning for it is that people can always choose the path they want, fast or slow, busy or chill..

Title: Fly solo
Place: Staten Island, New York
Category: Landmarks & Landscapes
Photographer: Hadia Hameed
Description: "If you can't be free, be a mystery" (Rita Dove) I took this lucky, spontaneous shot as I rode the Staten Island Ferry a few weeks ago. The strong, cold winds pried against my skin and my eyes watered as I watched the limitless horizon stretching across the beautiful Manhattan skyline. The best part of the ride was watching the Gulls trailing the ferry and flying within feets from me, giving me a good opportunity to take some memorable shots.

Title: NY city
Place: Category: Landmarks & Landscapes
Photographer: Shang Chang
Description: When I came American for the first time in August, I lived in the hotel provided by Stevens. Every time I went back to the hotel along the riverside in the evening, I would stop at somewhere and take photos for the prosperous city ablaze with lights. I always felt lonely at that time. I felt like it is a beautiful city but I didn't have a home here. But things are getting better after I moved in my apartment and settle down with my friends. Finally, there is a light that is shining for me.

Title: Peeking the Metropolitan
Place: Hudson River near Stevens Institute of Technology
Category: Landmarks & Landscapes
Photographer :Xi Wei (Raymond) Yin
Description: After attending an intense class, I walked around our beautiful campus to relax in the afternoon. The skyline along the Hudson River at the back of our campus is astoundingly beautiful under the sunset. I can't help but took a selfie with the view. Don't want to block the sight, I dodged a bit and peek at my phone screen for the shot. My eye expression represents my feeling at the moment - happy, curious and indulged."

Title: Fall Valley Place: Storm King Art Center, NY Category: Landmarks & Landscapes Photographer: Sifeng Liang Description: I took this photo at the Storm King Art Center in New York state in early Fall this year. Once I climbed a small hill in the park, I was impressed by the scene in front of my eyes, where trees were aligned along a straight road on both sides, and some leaves were already red due to cold weather brought by Fall season. As for me, I would like to express a feeling of season changing and this kind of change from Summer to Fall brings a colorful landscape in this mountain valley. |
Title: Falling Fall
Place: Bear Mountain, NY
Category: Life as an International Student/Scholar in the U.S.
Photographer: Shih-Hsuan Huang
Description: I took this picture from the bear mountain. A young woman in this picture makes a great contrast to the maple leaf on the ground. One is about to start her life in the future and the other is the destination of its life. The maple leaf makes the whole mountain look like a yellow farm. Through the lower side of the picture, contrast the depth of field of the whole picture. Actually, I was lying on the ground just to take this artistic photo.

Title: Halal Chicken
Place: Kings Food Markets, Hoboken
Category: Life as an International Student/Scholar in the U.S.
Photographer: Hadia Hameed
Description: Being a Muslim and a meat lover in America is a tough thing to sign up for. So naturally, seeing the label "Halal or "Kosher" on a meat product has the effect of turning us Muslim international students into a fitful mixture of tears and gratitude (even if you are from Pakistan and the brand is Indian. All deep-seated, post-colonial resentments are set aside when the chicken is Halal)
